What’s in Tidefall, and What Researchers Have Found

Reviewed October 14, 2026 · By the Quellmoor team · 6 min read

A label is only useful if you can check it. So here is each of our five ingredients next to published research on people, with the size of each study, what was measured, and where our amount sits.

Some of what follows works in our favor and some of it doesn’t. Both are on the page.

The label

Five Lines, One Serving

Quellmoor Tidefall is three capsules taken with your evening meal. It is built for the hours between finishing work and going to bed, and it is not a sleeping product.†

Each line shows an amount and the reason it is there. Nothing is folded into a proprietary blend, which is what makes the comparisons further down possible.

The Research, One Ingredient at a Time

None of these papers tested Tidefall; each looked at one ingredient. For every entry: who was studied, what changed, how our amount compares, and the limits.

Stress-hormone timing

A 2022 review pooled 12 randomized trials covering 1,002 adults aged 25 to 48. Compared with placebo, ashwagandha lowered stress scores, and the dose analysis put the stress benefit in the range of 300 to 600 mg a day. The authors rated the certainty of that evidence as low. [1] A 2025 review of trials published between 2012 and 2024 split the picture: cortisol fell across seven studies, while perceived-stress scores across six studies (488 people in all) showed no significant change. [2]

At the top of the range the 2022 review linked with lower stress scores.

Limits. Two reviews reach different conclusions on how stressed people feel. Both call for better-designed trials.

The after-work hum

Eighteen healthy volunteers at an English university each had a 300 mg dose, a 600 mg dose and a placebo on different days, a week apart, then worked through a demanding multitasking test. After 600 mg they rated themselves calmer and less alert; after 300 mg their arithmetic was quicker with no loss of accuracy. [3]

Limits. Single doses taken on test days, eighteen people. It says nothing about daily use over a month.

Looping thoughts

In Australia, 41 adults aged 18 to 35 drank either passionflower tea or a placebo tea every evening for a week, swapped over after a week’s break, and kept sleep diaries. Of the six diary measures, sleep quality came out better with passionflower. [4]

Different form altogether, so no fair comparison.

Limits. A week per condition, young adults, self-reported diaries.

Magnesium taurate, 100 mg

Held tension

A 2023 systematic review gathered nine studies involving 7,582 adults on magnesium and sleep. Observational studies linked better magnesium status with better sleep measures; the randomized trials pointed in different directions. The authors asked for larger trials lasting more than twelve weeks. [5]

Researched
No single amount (review) [5]

A review across many doses gives nothing to compare against.

Limits. This review is about sleep rather than stress, and its clearest signal comes from observational data, which cannot show cause and effect.

L-theanine, 100 mg

A busy head

Twelve volunteers in Japan sat a stressful mental-arithmetic task in four sessions: L-theanine at the start, L-theanine halfway through, a placebo, and nothing. With L-theanine, their heart rate and a saliva marker of stress rose less during the task than with the placebo. [6]

We won’t guess the dose from a summary, so no comparison.

Limits. Twelve people, single lab sessions, short-term physical markers.

The Gaps in All of This

One ingredient at a time, never this capsule.
How these five behave together, at these amounts, is untested. The first-bottle refund exists because of that.
Short and small.
Study lengths here run from a single afternoon to about two months, with groups from twelve people up.
Questionnaires and lab markers don’t always agree.
The two ashwagandha reviews show exactly that: one marker moves, one feeling doesn’t.
Nothing here is about your own body.
Only a test ordered by a clinician says anything about your hormone levels, and no supplement treats a medical condition.
“I checked every milligram against what I already take before I started. Easy, because it’s all printed.”
Ruthie B.
“The first fortnight felt like nothing. I’m glad I didn’t give up there.”
Tobias K.
“Expected to feel dopey the next day. That never happened.”

About this page

Questions About the Evidence

Why cite reviews rather than single trials for ashwagandha?
Reviews pool many trials, so one unusual study carries less weight. Here the two reviews also disagree, which is worth knowing.
Why not compare amounts for every ingredient?
Because sometimes the study used a different form, pooled many doses, or didn’t state the dose in its summary. Forcing a match would mislead.
Why is the magnesium paper about sleep?
It was the most recent systematic review we found that fit. We say plainly that it is about sleep, not stress.
Where can I read the papers?
Every entry under References links to its PubMed record, which has the abstract and a route to the full text.
